在設(shè)計(jì)回轉(zhuǎn)窯的斜度時(shí)，近年有向大的斜度4%取定的趨勢，為此，完全有必要將此方案與3.5%斜度作一比較分析。
斜度大的窯的優(yōu)點(diǎn)是：有利于物料在窯內(nèi)前進(jìn)的速度，對電動機(jī)的負(fù)荷要求可以減輕而節(jié)電；有利于縮短物料在窯內(nèi)的停留時(shí)間，為物料的急燒急冷創(chuàng)造條件；當(dāng)窯內(nèi)出現(xiàn)大球或掉大塊窯皮時(shí)，可以加快出窯的速度，有利于減少它們對窯襯及正常窯皮的翻砸；當(dāng)窯內(nèi)有結(jié)圈時(shí)，有利于物料不從窯尾漏料。

但斜度大的窯會有如下不利：如果物料在窯內(nèi)的停留時(shí)間是定值，斜度在就意味著窯轉(zhuǎn)速不能過高，而窯轉(zhuǎn)動的快慢，對窯內(nèi)物料的翻滾次數(shù)，即物料的受熱均勻程度有著決定性的影響。顯然，翻滾次數(shù)多的出窯熟料，無論從質(zhì)量均勻程度看，還是從能量消耗上都要優(yōu)越得多；當(dāng)生料喂料量或成分波動時(shí)，斜度大的窯抵御溫度變化的能力低，容易導(dǎo)致字竄料，至少控制游離氧化鈣的能力差一些。對于長徑比偏小的窯，此現(xiàn)象更為明顯。因此，要求燒成制度更加穩(wěn)定；斜度大的窯，窯襯向下的分力大，擋磚圈的承受力大。為此，既要求擋磚圈的質(zhì)量牢固，又要求磚的鋃砌質(zhì)量更高，能形成磚的自身拱力。
