鋼邊止水帶是以可伸縮的橡膠和鍍鋅鋼帶所組成的復(fù)合件。鋼邊止水帶主要靠中間的橡膠段在混凝土變形縫間被壓縮或拉伸，而起到密封止水作用。一般來說，混凝土和橡膠的粘附力較差，在常規(guī)施工中，又因橡膠是柔軟彈性體，使混凝土在澆筑時(shí)不易被掏實(shí)，故在混凝土接縫膨脹，扯離、扭轉(zhuǎn)時(shí)會(huì)經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)橡膠止水帶松動(dòng)和脫落，以致在水頭壓力較高情況下會(huì)產(chǎn)生滲漏現(xiàn)象。

對(duì)于變形縫大的接縫來說，總是就更為突出。采用鍍鋅鋼帶橡膠組合式止水帶，基本上可以克服純橡膠橋式止水帶的這些不足。而且這種組合式止水帶還具有雙重功能：即一方面可以延長途徑，延緩滲水速度，另一方面鍍鋅鋼帶和混凝土有著良好的粘附性，使止水帶能承受較大的拉力和扭力，從而保證橡膠止水帶的混凝土中的有效變形范圍內(nèi)不會(huì)產(chǎn)生松動(dòng)和脫落現(xiàn)象，提高止水效果。斷面采用非等厚結(jié)構(gòu)，分強(qiáng)力區(qū)和防水區(qū)，使各部分受力均勻，合理。伸縮孔久壁為平面，施工時(shí)板模夾制接觸面大，不易脫位;鋼板增設(shè)安裝孔與鋼筋相連接，固定牢靠不易位移。鍍鋅鋼板與混凝土的良好粘接，使防水性能更佳。
