Mechanical Design: The FLEXLOGIX/FLEX i/o platb features a flexible and compact modular mounting design that can be placed near the sensor/actuator of the device process. Unlike the backplane mounted on the rack, the length of the backplane is only related to the number of i/o modules installed. The FlexLogix processor or 1794i/o adapter can extend the 1794i/o module. For 1794 FLEX i/o, the installation is very modular. The backplane is composed of a modular terminal block and provides i/o connection endpoints. The I/O lines are in the i/o module. Each i/o module is inserted into the respective terminal row. 1794flex i/o module, Optional 32 point i/o. Eight native i/o modules can be installed on a FlexLogix processor, and eight FlEX i/o modules can be added within three feet of the processor by extending the i/o adapter. Insert an I/O SCAN card into the processor to remoby distribute more i/o points. The FlexLogix processor and FLEX i/o adapter have a built-in power supply that converts 24VDC POWER TO 5VDC to power the backplane. OPTIONAL STAND-ALONE 120/230VAC TO 24VDC power. All system modules can be installed with DIN rails, FlexLogix processors, and the 1794FLEX i/o module can also be backmounted. Communication: The FlexLogix processor communicates with the 1794i/o module installed to its right via the module backplane (8 i/o modules) . Each FlexLogix processor has a built-in RS-232 communication port (DF1 protocol) and a built-in extended local i/o communication port to extend 81794 FlEX i/o modules. You can also extend remote i/o via ControlNet. In addition to the ports built into the FlexLogix processor, a communication card can be optionally inserted into the processor module to establish a new ControlNet communication. 1794i/o's ControlNet adapter module (1794-ACN15,-accr15) , DeviceNet adapter module (1794-AND) , local extension module (1794-FLA) and General Remote i/o extension module (1794-ASB,-ASB2) are all available as extension i/o options. The I/O adapter module communicates with the remote processor through the interface between the i/o module and the i/o module through the scan port. Only the CONTROLNET and extended local I/O adapters are compatible with the FlexLogix processor.
