行程開關(guān)就是一般所說的限位開關(guān)?？梢岳斫鉃槭且唤M接通或斷開的簡單電路。
“用來檢測物體是否移動到限定的位置”，例如，機床的移動工作臺上裝撞塊，相對不動的床身上裝行程開關(guān)，當(dāng)機床工作臺移動預(yù)先設(shè)定的距離后，工作臺上的撞塊壓動床身上安裝的行程開關(guān)，行程開關(guān)斷開或接通，就有電信號反應(yīng)到控制柜中，工作臺停止移動或反向移動。

常開與常閉是開關(guān)的兩種原始狀態(tài)，常開型一般指沒有壓下的狀態(tài)電路是開通的，常閉型一般指沒有壓下的狀態(tài)電路是斷開的。根據(jù)需要來進行選擇，開關(guān)的常開點斷開或常閉點閉合。

常開接點：在不受外力（包括電力）的作用下，開關(guān)斷開的，就是常開接點。
