AC感應電機會輸出更多的轉矩,隨著速度的降低,直至負載達到故障點,此時電機速度會遽降至零。一個固有的AC電機性能特點是,起始的轉矩較小,必須在電機起始時卸去負載。
隨著20世紀80年底變頻器電子驅動的出現(xiàn),電機特有的轉矩-速度性能曲線,也發(fā)生了很大的改變。變頻器的性能是,同時改變電壓和頻率,使用可調節(jié)或可變化的速度驅動,就能重新構建了轉矩-速度曲線,AC感應電機是速度系統(tǒng)的主要環(huán)節(jié)。
如何使用
驅動技術在性能上的持續(xù)提高,將無刷PM和AC感應電機,也帶入了驅動市場的競爭,但是無刷PM電機仍然在控制領域中占主導地位。AC感應電機不適應在低速和高速中使用。

在生產(chǎn)機械中廣泛使用不改變同步轉速的調速方法有繞線式電動機的轉子串電阻調速、斬波調速、串級調速以及應用電磁轉差離合器、液力偶合器、油膜離合器等調速。改變同步轉速的有改變定子極對數(shù)的多速電動機,改變定子電壓、頻率的變頻調速有能無換向電動機調速等。
從調速時的能耗觀點來看,有調速方法與低效調速方法兩種:調速指時轉差率不變,因此無轉差損耗,如多速電動機、變頻調速以及能將轉差損耗回收的調速方法(如串級調速等)。有轉差損耗的調速方法屬低效調速,如轉子串電阻調速方法,能量就損耗在轉子回路中;電磁離合器的調速方法,能量損耗在離合器線圈中;液力偶合器調速,能量損耗在液力偶合器的油中。一般來說轉差損耗隨調速范圍擴大而增加,假如調速范圍不大,能量損耗是很小的。

El-Gallab[5]等研究發(fā)現(xiàn),切削力隨切削速度和切深增大而減小,研究認為可能是因為工件材料的軟化以及積屑瘤的存在改變了刀具幾何角度造成的。Lin等[9]使用PCD刀具在切削速度分別為v=3、5、7m/min下對SiCp/Al進行了車削試驗。結果表明,隨著刀具磨損量的增加,主切削力和進給抗力分別在185N和9N以內;相同切削速度條件下,切削力隨著進給量的增加而增加;相同進給量條件下,切削力隨著切削速度的增加變化很小。
