MVME2100 configuration settings 1-4 avoid contacting the integrated circuit area; Electrostatic discharge can damage these circuits. Note if the transport carton is damaged upon receipt, please ask the carrier's agent to be present during unpacking and inspection. Remove the equipment from the shipping box. Refer to the packaging list and verify that all items exist. Store and re transport packaging materials and equipment. Generating the required configuration and ensuring the correct operation of the board may require some modifications before and after installation. The following paragraphs discuss preparing and connecting MVME2100 hardware components to the chassis.
MVME2100 provides software control of most options by setting bits in the control register. After installation in the system, you can modify its configuration. For more inbation about board control registers, refer to the guidelines listed in the MVME2100 board computer programmer's reference appendix. However, some options are not software programmable. These options are achieved by manually installing or removing jumpers or additional interface modules on the MVME2100. The jumper manually configured on MVME2100 includes: memory usage (welding or plug-in flash memory) (J9) system control (J2) bank a (welding memory). It is composed of four 16 bit devices, which are equipped with 8 Mbit flash memory device (4MB). Jumper connector J9 (pins 1 and 2) provides a selective configuration between bank a (bank 1) or bank B (bank 0) (ppcbug use only). Bank B consists of 1MB 8-bit flash memory in two 32-pin PLCC 8-bit sockets. A jumper must be installed between J9 pins 1 and 2 of group A, or bank B is turned off (factory default).
