同步帶分單面有齒和雙面有齒兩種，簡稱為單面帶和雙面帶。雙面帶按齒排列的不同，有D型(對稱齒廓)和DⅡ型(交錯齒廓)之分。內(nèi)外面都有齒的齒形帶適用于旋轉方向改變的多軸傳動。目前同步帶及帶輪常用齒廓有梯形、漸開線、圓弧、拋物線等，齒廓一般用滾刀或插齒刀加工。在我國，梯形齒同步帶傳動已制訂有九項國標，但圓弧齒同步帶傳動還未有國家標準，紡織工業(yè)部統(tǒng)一了國內(nèi)高扭矩同步帶單圓弧齒和雙圓弧齒兩大類帶和輪的齒廓尺寸，制訂了六項行業(yè)標準。
